badge med Acts as Conference 2009 Is One Week Away

Acts as Conference is one exciting week away. Tickets have been selling well and are now in limited supply, so if you haven’t registered then what are you waiting for? Be the first to hear from David and Yehuda about Rails 3.0, and ask David a question on Friday morning. We have an awesome lineup of speakers who will help strengthen your Rails-fu, breakfast and lunch both days, and awesome networking opportunities, all for $125. I’ll see you all here in Orlando next Friday. Until then, keep talking it up and help us promote it.

Great thanks goes out to all of sponsors, especially our Platinum sponsors –  Engine Yard, New Relic, AT&T Interactive –  for helping make Acts as Conference 2009 possible.

If you’ve registered for Acts as Conference 2009 then you’ve been invited to begin connecting with fellow attendees on the Acts as Conference Online Community. The site, provided by EventVue, helps you learn more about and connect with your fellow registrants, as well as our speakers and sponsors.

Once my account was created, the site automatically found my website, blog, LinkedIn and Facebook profiles, as well as my Twitter address. This helped me to complete my profile in mere minutes, since I didn’t have to enter everything in myself. Once I added tags, I was able to see who else shared those tags. One thing I really liked is that the site didn’t try to match me up with folks who shared my tags. This is a good since I know probably every Rails developer here in Orlando. Another cool thing was that company names also get turned into tags of sorts, so you can see who is coming from what company. You can also see other stats including the most popular tags and most represented cities. It’s great to see so many people coming from outside of Florida. Want to contact someone but don’t know their email? All is well. Simply send them a message.

Since the site has everyone’s Twitter and blog, you’ll see who is saying what on the Chatter tab. Also, if you tag your Flickr pics or YouTube videos with aac09, they’ll show up on the site as well. Very cool.

If you aren’t on the conference site I encourage you to log in and complete your profile. Once of the biggest benefits of going to conferences, along with learning, is networking. The AAC 2009 Online Community will help you get going.

If you have registered and haven’t gotten your invite, leave a comment here and we’ll make sure you get hooked up.

Great thanks goes out to all of sponsors, especially our Platinum sponsors –  Engine Yard, New Relic, AT&T Interactive –  for helping make Acts as Conference 2009 possible.

tim rosenblatt Tim Gets Your Apps Talking Securely at Acts As Conference 2009

Remember that little phishing issue that Twitter experienced last week? Well, since then, there’s been a lot of talk about using OAuth to allow application access rather than usernames and passwords. Bloggers including Louis Gray and Don Park have suggested that Twitter implement OAuth, and there’s been more discussions on Chris Messina’s blog as well.

Well, if you’re wondering what OAuth is, how it will work for you, and how to implement it into a Rails application, register for Acts as Conference 2009 and listen to Tim Rosenblatt tell you all about it with: OAuth and APIs: Sharing your data without leaving your zipper down.

Tim is the Agile Development Director at Cloudspace, an Orlando-based web apps shop. He’s been coding for nearly a decade, but unless you’re *really* into Firefox Extensions or Twitter, you’ve probably never heard of him. When he’s not writing code for fun and profit, he spends time with his wonderful girlfriend, and aspires to awesomeness on the drums.

Tim is part of the awesome lineup you can see at Acts as Conference 2009, February 6th and 7th, in Orlando, Florida. $125 gets you in to food, fun, networking and learning. We’ll see you there.
