The Rails Rumble is long over, voting has long ended, the winners announced approximately forever ago, and I’m finally getting around to a wrap-up post about it.

Our team didn’t win anything, but the experience was worth it. I’m already looking forward to next year.

Big special thank you’s go out to my teammates Erika, Levin, and Bill. Erika and Levin came up with a great look super quick. And Bill is like an HTML/CSS/jQuery wizard. Those people have skills. All I did was do what I do everyday. Write ruby.

And play Rock Band 2.

I ended up using the Rails Rumble app we built last year to keep track of what I had to do to build the app this year. I didn’t even realize it at first. My wife happened to notice and point it out. Neat!

There were some great apps this year. My personal favorite, hurl, won for completeness. It’s a great example of the perfect type of app for things like this. Small, concise, and extremely useful.

A big thanks to the organizers, sponsors, and judges as well.

Time to start planning next year’s entry…
