The Rails Keep Moving Faster

by Robert Dempsey on January 20, 2008

We are always looking to speed up our apps by making Rails move faster. The folks over at Novemberain.com have provided a great tip for those of us using Edge Rails (the trunk version of Rails). They submitted patch #10835 which was committed to changeset 8674. From what I gather reading their post, their patch reduces the number of patterns that the routing engine has to look through by removing potential patterns that definitely do not contain your route. Definitely check their site for all the details.

  • The notes on the post seem to indicate that under certain circumstances the routing will speed up. We have our corporate site running edge rails and so far so good. Definitely speedy on non-cached pages.

Thats great, i love hearing stories like this. Can't quite believe it gives a 2.4x speed increase though.
