This past Sunday DHH announced the Rails 2.0 preview release to the happiness of Rails devotees everywhere. He says that we can look forward to two or three more release candidates and version 1.2.4 (to include bug fixes and final deprecation warnings) before the big 2.0. So, should we run out and upgrade to the latest, live dangerously out on the edge? Check out what’s under the hood and decide for yourself. If you throw caution to the wind (or just want to liven up your morning), here are some links to really rev your engine:

  • Find out if your app is 2.0 ready with this little Ruby app
  • Install the Rails gem: gem install rails –source http://gems.rubyonrails.org
  • Freeze Rails edge and check out the latest using “svn co http://svn.rubyonrails.org/rails/tags/rel_2-0-0_PR”
  • Review the preview release on Rails Trac

Enjoy!
