Promoting Rails in the Business and Developer Communities

by Robert Dempsey on January 19, 2007

Having “converted” from PHP to Ruby on Rails more than a year ago I have been looking for ways to promote the language in the developer and business communites. I believe that the developer community is catching on. Business, however, is another story. With competition including Java and PHP, both languages that have been around for many years and have sponsorship, Rails has a way to go in gaining general popularity in the enterprise.

I have purchased a domain name and begun building a site. I am in the process of creating a slogan, mission statement and a plan of attack for this new entity. Any ideas that you have on how we can promote Rails, and gain corporate sponsorship (as promotion costs money) are appreciated. I look forward to your ideas.
